Ava Labs partners with cloud-computing platform Amazon Web Services partners (AWS) for compliance use cases and the wider adoption of blockchain technology, as stated in an announcement on January 11.
The partnership aims at supporting Avalanche’s infrastructure and decentralized applications (dApps), including one-click node deployment for developers, through the AWS marketplace. In addition, Ava Labs joins the AWS Partner Network (APN), allowing it to assist customers with deploying custom offerings on AWS through its network of more than 100,000 global partners.
Avalanche is a smart contracts platform for decentralized applications that enables developers to launch Ethereum dApps with ease and deploy blockchains that fit their application needs. It offers a multichain framework with application-specific subnets built atop its main chain. For the uninitiated, a subnet AKA subnetwork is a dynamic set of validators who work together to reach consensus on the state of a blockchain(s). Yes, there can be multiple blockchains too.
This architecture of subnets helps achieve regulatory compliance. Ava Labs plans to offer subnet deployment as a managed service in the AWS marketplace for individuals and institutions to launch custom subnets on demand.
Emin Gün Sirer, founder and CEO of Ava Labs, commented that the collaboration is a huge boon for individual and enterprise developers to spin up nodes and test networks with AWS and insisted that the “work with Amazon can accelerate the positive impact of Avalanche.”
In the new alliance, dApps’ developers who are concerned about regulatory compliance will be able to access AWS GovCloud—which assists customers with US government compliance—to address specific compliance requirements. According to the announcement, Avalanche node operators can run for FedRAMP compliance use cases, which is a program run by the US government for the assessment, authorization, and monitoring of cloud services and products.
Ava Labs also joins AWS Activate, a program that helps eligible startups and entrepreneurs get started on the AWS platform. The alliance intends to enhance the flexibility of layer-1 blockchain networks for developers. Together, Ava Labs and AWS will now collaborate on events geared towards startups and developers, such as the Avalanche Summit, Avalanche Creates, and hackathons, empowering users to build on Avalanche.
Amazon Managed Blockchain, a cloud service focused on blockchain, already supports Ethereum and enterprise-level, distributed ledger platform Hyperledger Fabric. Avalanche now joins the list of over 70 blockchain protocols hosted on the AWS platform, like Blockapps Strato, Quorum, Corda, DAML, Blockstack, and RSK.
Avalanche’s native token, AVAX, recorded a 16.2% rise against the US dollar within hours after the announcement was made. With the partnership, AWS will help expand the adoption of the Avalanche ecosystem to new geographies and customer segments, said Howard Wright, VP and Global Head of Startups, AWS.
