A high-end auction house Christie’s announced on Tuesday the development of an on-chain platform for non-fungible token (NFT) art, making it the first worldwide auction house to permit fully on-chain sales. Christie’s 3.0 was developed in collaboration with blockchain data business Chainalysis, NFT minting platform Manifold, and metaverse builder Spatial. The Ethereum blockchain will be used for the whole auction process, including all pre- and post-sale transactions. The platform’s first auction will take place on September 28 and will comprise nine NFTs by artist Diana Sinclair from her “Phases” collection. The online auction will take place concurrently with a solo show at Christie’s New York.
