Immunefi, a bounty-paying whitehat – a term for individuals who hack products with the intention of patching security rather than stealing – banned 15 users last week who submitted ChatGPT-regenerated reports on the platform, albeit to mixed reviews. Immunefi developers told CoinDesk that for the time being, the platform’s reasoning on the subject is crystal clear. “There is a distinction to be made between GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT. With the former, you are in control of the process, and Copilot’s role is to provide contextually relevant suggestions that you can accept or reject as you write your programme. With the latter, you use a single prompt to generate what appears to be a well-written bug report but is nonsense when examined further.” Immunefi confirmed this to CoinDesk via Twitter.
