The DeFi Education Fund (DEF), a lobbying group based in Washington, D.C. that focuses on decentralized finance (DeFi) issues, has joined a group of crypto lawyers in arguing that the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) should not be allowed to serve defendants in a lawsuit simply by posting on a website. On Monday, the DEF filed a motion to join the action as a friend of the court, stating that the CFTC’s approach to the subject of service “may inhibit fresh and innovative kinds of software development.” The lawsuit comes only days after the LeXpunK Army, a collection of cryptocurrency lawyers and technologists, submitted a similar motion to join the case.
