On Thursday, Nike launched a relationship with video game manufacturer EA Sports, including what look to be planned digital collectibles of Nike-branded items via the .Swoosh platform will be used in future EA games. While the term “NFTs” has not yet been mentioned, Nike’s Web3 platform, .Swoosh, was introduced last year and is now in closed beta. It’s based on Polygon, an Ethereum scaling network, and presently exclusively sells NFT items like digital sneakers and membership cards. Nike stated in a blog post that it is collaborating with the sports video game publisher to “make select .Swoosh virtual creations available” in upcoming EA Sports games. According to the statement, the two sports brands would “build new immersive experiences” with a focus on personalisation.
