On Tuesday, European lawmakers voted to impose stricter regulations on banks that hold cryptocurrencies. According to reports, the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee of Parliament has tightened the capital requirement for holding digital assets. Banks will be required to hold one euro of their own capital for every euro held in cryptocurrency, according to Markus Ferber, a member of the European Parliament. The regulator also emphasised that cryptocurrency assets are “high-risk investments.”
