Former finance secretary Subhash Chandra Garg revealed to Forkast that India has made no significant progress on global cryptocurrency governance, even after leading the Group of 20 (G20) for nine months.
He said that the global situation of cryptocurrencies and other digital assets that are decentralized has not changed much since India took over the G20 presidency.
He added that this is likely to continue for a while.
India became the G20 president in December 2022 and will hand over the role to Brazil by the end of November 2023
During its presidency, many high-ranking government officials, such as the finance minister and the prime minister, have repeatedly stressed the need for a common global regulatory framework.
