HashKey, a cryptocurrency exchange, announced on Thursday that it will begin offering its services to retail consumers in Hong Kong, making it the city’s first licenced crypto trading exchange to do so.
The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission updated HashKey’s licence, allowing the exchange to broaden its business scope from servicing professional investors to serving regular users.
The Hong Kong-based exchange was granted a permission to operate in the city in November, making it one of only two licenced crypto exchanges in the city, along with competitor exchange OSL.
The city has been going all out in its attempt to become a worldwide crypto powerhouse, from recruiting mainland China crypto money to floating proposals to test a digital currency on its streets.
