The Odisha police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) is probing Bollywood actor Govinda for his role in a fake crypto scheme.
Govinda attended a promotional event in Goa in July for Solar Techno Alliance (STA-Token), a scam that masqueraded as a cryptocurrency.
The EOW wants to question Govinda in Mumbai to find out more about his involvement in STA’s extravagant celebration. The actor was featured in videos and other marketing materials for the company.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Sasmita Sahoo said to Investing News that Govinda’s exact role in the crypto scam will be revealed by further investigation, and he may be a witness in the case.
Govinda, however, denied any connection with the crypto Ponzi scheme in an interview with TOI. He said he was not aware of the EOW’s inquiry into the crypto fraud.
The EOW team will soon fly to Mumbai to interrogate the actor about his alleged role in the scam.
