According to a press release issued on Friday, India’s Enforcement Directorate (ED) has requested that 150.22 bitcoins, worth approximately $2.5 million today, be frozen as part of a money-laundering investigation involving the gaming app E-Nuggets. According to the ED, the total value of frozen or seized assets in the case is now $8.4 million. The investigation is related to a complaint filed by regulators in India’s eastern city of Kolkata in February 2021 against Aamir Khan, the app’s creator, and others. According to the agency, Khan and others launched E-Nuggets to collect money from the public in exchange for commission rewards, but then erased all data. Since the start of the investigation, no one has had access to Khan’s contact information.
