According to reports and social media posts from affected individuals, video game retailer GameStop laid off another round of employees today, ahead of its upcoming earnings report. According to Axios, the team behind the company’s crypto wallet was particularly hard hit. Daniel Williams, GameStop’s Lead Software Engineer, announced earlier today on LinkedIn that “another big round of layoffs at GameStop is currently in progress,” including ecommerce product and engineers employees—“lots of them.” Several former employees have posted public status updates on LinkedIn about the layoffs today, including blockchain and iOS engineer Brandon Jenniges, who wrote that the company’s move affected him.
