Facebook is facing a possible shutdown in Thailand if it does not stop fake ads that promote crypto and investment scams.
The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society said that more than 200,000 people have fallen victim to these ads, which use images of celebrities and false claims of high returns.
The ministry has collected evidence of over 5,300 scam ads and will seek a court order to block Facebook within a week if it does not act.
The ministry said it has contacted Facebook, which is owned by Meta, but the platform has not screened its advertisers properly.
