Nonfungible token (NFT) application developers and others have reacted angrily to Apple’s decision to levy a 30% commission on NFTs sold through apps on its marketplace, thereby putting NFT sales on par with conventional in-app purchases. According to a Friday report from The Information, the smartphone business is now allowing NFTs to be bought and sold through apps listed on its marketplace, but it levies a 30% commission on in-app transactions — the same as Android’s app shop Google Play. Some have criticized the commission rate for being “grotesquely inflated.”
