Senator Ted Cruz introduced legislation in the Senate on Wednesday advocating for crypto payments within areas of the Capitol, demonstrating Republicans’ continued focus on digital asset regulations. The new directive would apply to officials in the House of Representatives and Senate in charge of overseeing day-to-day operations, encouraging them to collaborate with “persons who will accept digital assets as payment for goods” and food services. The proposal mentions areas of the Capitol where digital payments could be accepted, such as gift shops and vending machines. Through a similarly worded document last November, Cruz pushed for the adoption of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin as a form of payment within Capitol buildings.
