Following the demise of the FTX platform, Telegram Messenger LLP plans to build non-custodial wallets and a decentralised exchange for cryptocurrencies, according to Telegram’s founder and CEO Pavel Durov. The 38-year-old founder believes his and other blockchain-based projects should return to their decentralised roots, allowing cryptocurrency users to conduct transactions through self-hosted wallets that are not reliant on a single third party. “As developers, we must steer the blockchain industry away from centralization by creating fast and simple decentralised applications for the masses.” Such projects are now finally feasible,” Durov wrote in his post.
