Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission has filed a lawsuit against five businesses for creating fictitious volume on cryptocurrency exchanges Bitkub and Satang Corp.According to an official statement, the regulator imposed civil penalties on two men and the Bangkok-based Bitkub. The three defendants in this case have been ordered to pay 24.2 million Thai baht ($636,000) in restitution to the SEC for the costs of the investigation. This year, the Thai SEC has taken a more tough stance on cryptocurrency. After submitting a police complaint against failing cryptocurrency exchange Zipmex, it prohibited staking and lending services in Thailand earlier this month.
