Whampoa Group, which is run by two members of Singapore’s most prominent families, said on Thursday that it was planning to raise $50 million for a crutpcurrency-related hedge fund. In an interview with Bloomberg, the group’s co-founder Shawn Chan said that the company was also seeking to deploy $100 million for a crypto venture fund. The company is run by principles of the Lee family and Amy Lee, niece of Singapore’s founding Prime Minister. This comes just as regulators in Singapore have been cautioning investors against crypto investments and have been increasing scrutiny. Whampoa is looking for strategic investors among the family network as well as institutional investors from China.
