Retail cryptocurrency traders in Hong Kong can now access local cryptocurrency exchanges more easily, as HashKey Exchange opened its doors to them on Aug. 28.
Previously, the company could only serve professional and institutional investors, until it received Type 1 and Type 7 licenses from the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) on Aug. 3.
These licenses allowed it to become a licensed retail exchange in Hong Kong.
Another digital asset platform, OSL, also obtained the same licenses from the SFC on Aug. 3, enabling it to offer its brokerage, exchange and custody services to retail customers in Hong Kong.
OSL executive director Dave Chapman told Cointelegraph that the firm has been catering to retail investors since it got the license upgrade.
