Argo Blockchain, a cryptocurrency miner listed on the London Stock Exchange (ARB) and Nasdaq (ARBK), has lost its chief financial officer. Alex Appleton, who has held this position since September 2020, is leaving to “pursue other opportunities,” according to a filing on Wednesday with the London Stock Exchange. Following the news, Argo’s LSE shares are down around 3.4% at 15.07 pence. Last year, the mining company avoided bankruptcy by selling its Helios facility in Texas to cryptocurrency-focused financial services firm Galaxy Digital for $65 million and a $35 million loan. Argo’s stock dropped more than 90% in 2022, during a tumultuous year for the mining business as bitcoin prices plummeted and electricity bills skyrocketed.
