The Holesky test network, a new platform for testing Ethereum’s scaling solutions, launched successfully on Thursday after a failed attempt earlier this month.
The launch was confirmed by the developers on a YouTube livestream from the EthStaker channel around 8:10 am ET.
They expressed their relief that they did not have to create a third testnet.
Holesky is meant to replace the current Goerli testnet, which has some issues with the supply of testnet ETH.
Holesky also allows more validators to join the network, doubling the number of mainnet.
The testnet was originally planned to launch on Sept. 15, the anniversary of Ethereum’s historic transition to proof-of-stake, but it was delayed due to some configuration problems.
