Kim Kardashian, a businesswoman and influencer, was fined $1.26 million for failing to declare how much she was paid for an Instagram post promoting a cryptocurrency asset. The Securities and Exchange Commission announced on Monday that it had struck an agreement with Kardashian over an Instagram post from last year promoting an EthereumMax virtual coin. Kardashian failed to disclose that EthereumMax paid her $250,000 for the article, in violation of SEC requirements. Kardashian agreed to refrain from making any crypto security endorsements for the next three years, pay a $1 million fine for the post, and forfeit an extra $260,000, which included the $250,000 she got from producing the advertisement as well as approximately $10,000 in interest payments.
