Binance’s BNB token and bitcoin (BTC) fell on Monday after a rumour spread that the crypto exchange’s CEO was being detained by international law enforcement. “Interpol Red Notice for CZ,” tweeted @cobie, a popular figure in the crypto community. Not only is that account private, but the message’s text was a jumble of letters and numbers. It had been encrypted with the SHA-256 hash function, which is used to secure many cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin. However, someone figured out how to breach the post, and word spread.
