Indonesia intends to delegate regulation, supervision, and oversight of cryptocurrency investments to the Financial Service Authority (OJK) in order to better protect investors, according to the country’s finance minister on Thursday. Currently, the Trade Ministry and the Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency oversee cryptocurrency in Southeast Asia’s largest economy, where such investments are on the rise. The new plan, unveiled by Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati, is a component of financial sector legislation currently being debated in parliament.
