Riot Platforms — formerly Riot Blockchain — has filed a lawsuit against Texas-based Bitcoin miner Rhodium Enterprises in order to reclaim “more than $26 million” in allegedly unpaid mining facility fees. Rhodium allegedly breached its contract with Riot by neglecting to pay hosting and service fees related with using Whinstone’s Bitcoin mining facilities, a wholly owned subsidiary of Riot, according to Riot Platform’s Q1 2023 financial report issued on May 10. On May 2, a petition was filed in Texas’ Milam County Court against Rhodium Enterprises, seeking to recover “more than $26 million” and reimbursement for any legal bills incurred. Riot also asked permission to terminate “certain hosting agreements” with Rhodium and planned to be excused from owing any outstanding power credits upon termination.
